Panthers come up Short in Non-Conference Road Affair

RALEIGH, North Carolina -- The Ferrum College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference match to familiar foe William Peace University on the road tonight at WPU's Hermann Athletic Center. Set scores for the Halloween match were 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.

William Peace jumped out to a 17-5 lead and cruised from there in taking the opening set. The second set was close at 10-9 WPU, when the Pacers slowly began to pull away and ended the set with six straight points.

In the third and final set, William Peace led 4-3, broke it open with a 10-2 run, then hung on down the stretch for the win.

Brienna Laskowski had 14 kills and 10 digs for the Pacers. Mya Parks contributed 11 kills and 10 digs, while Sarah Scott dished out 32 assists.

Chemaiya Jordan and Layura Henley both led the way in the hitting department, recording six kills apiece. Kayla Divers led the Panthers with eight digs on the back row. Ashley Roberts had a big game as the Panthers' main setter, recording 13 assists in the losing effort.

Coach Ruthanne Duffy's team will round out the season on the road Saturday, November 2, with a neutral site match against Christendom College. The non-conference match is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and will be the second time this season the Panthers and Crusaders have faced each.
