ROANOKE, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up an Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball win tonight at Hollins University, winning 3-1 at CH Gym. Set scores were 14-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-20.
Ferrum (10-15, 2-10 ODAC)
Hollins (9-15, 1-10 ODAC)
Ferrum trailed 10-8 early on when Hollins went on a 15-6 run to close out the first set. In the second set, the two teams were tied 27-27 when Kaelyn Daniel's service ace and a Hollins attack error stopped the mini-marathon and the match was tied at a set each. Cheyenne Strickland had kills to closed out the third and fourth sets for Ferrum.
BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"We had a slow start and although we were able to begin fighting back in set one, it was too little, too late. Luckily we were able to not dwell on the first set and fight to win the next three. I am so proud of the women we have here, they have battled hard all year and came up short in a few games and our record doesn't reflect the talent this team has. Over the last few games, things are really coming together and we are doing a better job of correcting mistakes we made early on and are finding ways to win these matches." -- Head Coach Ruthanne Duffy
BACK ON COURT
Duffy's team will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Mary Baldwin University. The non-conference match gets underway at 7:00 p.m. in Staunton, Virginia. Ferrum then hosts Johnson & Wales (N.C.)
