Ferrum Beats Mary Baldwin 8-1 in Women's Tennis

STAUNTON, Va. -- Ferrum College's women's team picked up a non-conference win this afternoon on the road, beating Mary Baldwin University 8-1 at the MBU Tennis Courts.

The Panthers came out swinging, rolling to a 3-0 lead after doubles. Morgan Scott and Alexandria Dixon won 8-1 at #1 doubles, Addison Philpott and Chelsea Zizzi picked up an 8-3 win at #2, and Mallory Scott and Brenda Cancino Yanez won 8-3 at #3.

Scott, Dixon, Scott, Zizzi and Philpott all won at #1-5 singles, respectively. All five players won in straight sets.

Coach Rod Baker's squad will be back in action Sunday, April 28, at Shenandoah University. The match witll be part of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader, which will include the Panther men. The season finale for both teams is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start in Winchester, Virginia.
