FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College has been picked to finish 12th in the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Preseason Poll.
Washington and Lee University had 144 points to earn top billing in a vote of the league's head coaches. The Generals grabbed 12 of the 13 available first-place votes.
The other first-place vote went to Randolph-Macon College, which earned 132 points and holds second place in the preseason poll. The University of Lynchburg checks in at third with 107 points.
The Panthers earned with 36 points to finish 12th among the 13 schools that sponsor women's tennis. Ferrum finished 10-8 overall last season and 4-4 in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Ferrum's top returners from a year ago are seniors Morgan Scott and Alexandria Dixon. Scott went 10-7 at #1 singles and 8-7 at #1 doubles last season. Dixon went 6-9 at #3 singles and 7-7 at #1 and #2 doubles. Autum Murray-Burns and Hailee Green are also back. Burns posted a 7-7 singles mark, the majority of which were in the #4 spot, and 9-6 in doubles. Green was 8-4 in singles, mainly in the #6 spot, and 8-6 in doubles.
The Panthers are led by fifth-year Head Coach Rod Baker. Ferrum opens the 2019 season Saturday, Feb. 23, at home against Lynchburg College. The ODAC match gets underway at 1:00 p.m. at the Burrows-Skeens Tennis Courts.
