FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's soccer match tonight at home against Shenandoah University was halted and then eventually suspended due to multiple lightning strikes in the Ferrum area.

The Panthers grabbed a 1-0 lead when Ysabella Bettilyon took a pass from Cayla Berry and beat Shenandoah goalkeeper Emilie Smith in the 31st minute of play.

The initial play stoppage happened at the 36:00 mark, around 6:40 p.m. Play could not be resumed by 9:00 p.m., the NCAA three-hour limit beyond the scheduled start time, so the game was suspended and is considered a no-contest.

No make-up date has been announced. Ferrum will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Emory & Henry College. The ODAC game is set for a 5:00 p.m. in Emory, Virginia, and will be followed immediately by the Ferrum-E&H men's game.
