WHEATON, Ill. -- Four Ferrum College wrestlers earned spots on the podium as the Panthers posted an 11th-place finish at the rugged Pete Willson/Wheaton Invitational, held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26, at Wheaton College. Senior Blake Rosenbaum earned his 100th career win, a milestone no other Ferrum wrestler has accomplished in the six-year history of the Panther mat program.

Rosenbaum went 5-2 with a pin and placed fifth at 174 pounds. He advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 mark to open the tournament before suffering back-to-back losses and coming back to win his fifth-place match 8-6 over Drew Matticks from Milwaukee School of Engineering. Rosenbaum's 5th-place match was his 100th win, and gave him a 100-46 career record with 50 pins. He holds school records for career wins and career pins.
Andrew Tolbert went 7-2 with a pin to finish fifth at 165 pounds. He opened with a win, then lost his second match and had to battle through the consolations. In his 5th-place match, Tolbert eked out a 4-2 win over Olivet College's Tyler Grimsley. Levi Englman (133 lbs) went 4-2 with a pin to place seventh, and Austin Smith (157) went 4-2 with two pins to place eighth.
Mount Union won the team title with 135 points, easily outdistancing runner-up North Central (105.5 pts) and third-place Baldwin Wallace (98). Ferrum (67.5) finished 11th in a field of 38 teams.

BACK ON THE MAT
Coach Nate Yetzer's team will be back in action Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Southern Virginia University. The dual meet is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Buena Vista, Virginia.
