FERRUM, Va. -- Following a tornado delay and two lighting delays, Shenandoah University beat Ferrum College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action, winning 19-6 this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

The day opened with a brief tornado delay, then the two teams played the first 22 plus minutes of the game without incident. A lightning delay occurred with 7:24 left in the first half and the Hornets holding a 7-4 lead. Nikki Zarna and Alexandra Simonson each had a pair of goals for the Hornets in that window of time, while Megan Allen had two for Ferrum.
When play resumed, Shenandoah scored a pair of goals and the lead was 9-4 at the break.Halftime was no more than a timeout and play resumed immediately in an effort to beat the weather and get the game completed.
The two teams traded goals to open the second half then the Hornets erupted for nine goals, in and around another delay, to make it a 19-5 game. Kaitlyn Harley scored the final goal of the game for the Panthers, off an assist from Micaela Harvey.

Coach Karen Harvey's team will be back in action Saturday, April 20, at home against Randolph-Macon College. The ODAC game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
