Ferrum's Bove Named First Team All-State

2016 VaSID College Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Team

FERRUM, Va. -- The 2016 Virginia College Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Team has been announced and Ferrum College's Julianne Bove has earned first-team recognition. The team is voted upon by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID).

Bove led Ferrum in scoring this season with 66 goals, 17 assists and 83 points. She closed out the 2016 season second in the USA South Athletic Conference in both goals and points, earning All-Conference first team honors in the process.

The University of Mary Washington earned two of the three major awards on this year's All-State Team, with Mackenzie Maguire and Caitlin Moore earning Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. Christopher Newport University's Meaghan Galvin was named Player of the Year.

This is the first All-State honor for Bove, who graduated in May. She is Ferrum's 10th All-State player and only the second to earn first team honors, including former standout Brooke Hewartson in 2013. Ferrum finished the 2016 season with a 6-10 overall record and a 1-5 conference mark. The Panthers graduate six players, and 12 are eligible to return to the team next season.
