FERRUM, Va. -- The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2016 Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll, and Ferrum College has been picked to finish fourth. The league has seven women's lacrosse playing institutions.

Meredith College garnered 35 points, including five of the seven possible first-place votes, to earn preseason favorite status. Piedmont College earned 32 points and two first-lace votes, followed by Greensboro College with 24 points and Ferrum with 19 points.

Ferrum returns seven of 18 players from last year's team that finished 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the USA South. Four of 12 starters return for Head Coach Karen Harvey, who enters her 10th year with a 76-61-1 coaching mark. Senior Julianne Bove is the top returning scorer after having tallied 26 goals, 14 assists and 30 points for the Panthers a year ago. Sophomore Kiani Mohica returns as well after having posted 11 goals, two assists and 13 points last season.

Ferrum opens the season Wednesday, Feb. 17, at home against Chowan University. USA South play begins Saturday, March 5, at home against Huntingdon College.
