FRONT ROYAL, Va. -- Ferrum College women's golfers Jetta Huffman and Hunter Tharpe completed play at the Green Turtle Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, at the par-71, 5810-yard Shenandoah Valley Golf Course. The tournament, Ferrum's second this fall, was hosted by Shenandoah University.

Jordan Koller of York (Pa.) led the Spartans to the team title with a 622, as she earned medalist honors with a 77-74-151. She finished one stroke better than teammate Anna Moore (80-72-152) and Randolph-Macon's Liza Lewis (77-75-152). Stevenson University was second as a team with a 631, followed by Randolph-Macon College at 653. Huffman opened Saturday with an 80, then followed with an 83 Sunday to finish in a tie for 11th place at 165. Tharpe carded an 84-87-171 to finish 22nd in a field of 50 golfers.

"Jetta and Hunter handled themselves nicely around the golf course this weekend. One of the goals we set for this weekend was play one hole at a time and that one hole will not define their round. Today they had several obstacles to overcome and had bounces that didn't go our way, but they shook those off and rebounded with either a par or birdie every time." -- Head Coach Erick Cox

Cox's women will be back in action Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 22-23, at the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Berry College at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Georgia.
