FRONT ROYAL, Va. -- Two Ferrum College women's golfers competed in first-day action at the Green Turtle Invitational, being held today and tomorrow at Shenandoah Valley Golf Course. The tournament is hosted by fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference member Shenandoah University.

THE BASICS
Freshmen Jetta Huffman and Hunter Tharpe each participated in Ferrum's second tournament this fall. Huffman posted a nine-over par 80 to tie for eighth place. Tharpe posted a 13-over par 84, tying for 18th place in a field of 50 individuals.

BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"I was very pleased the way the ladies got around the golf course today. Overall the course is fairly short, but the fairways are narrow and the rough was deep and quite brutal. Jetta played solid throughout the whole round shooting 40 on the front and 40 on the back. Hunter struggled a little on the front with a 45, but fired a 39 on the back and made a 30 footer for birdie to end the round." -- Head Coach Erick Cox
