Ferrum Falls 45-34 in Women's Basketball at Hollins

ROANOKE, Va. -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team fell 45-34 to Hollins University tonight on the road in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

Hollins (4-11, 1-8 ODAC)
Ferrum (3-13, 1-8 ODAC)

Hollins led 5-2 early on, but Ferrum surged out in front with an 8-0 run to close out the first quarter with a 10-5 advantage. The Panthers led 16-12 at halftime and after Jasmine Barr's layup to open the third quarter made it 18-12, Hollins erupted for a 19-2 run to take a 31-20 lead.

Ferrum would get as close as eight points late in the game, 42-34, on Arin Bunker's layup with 1:47 left in regulation, but a Kayla Surles free throw and Yasmine Tyler layup in the waning seconds locked in Hollins' first ODAC win this season. The win was Hollins' first ever in women's basketball over Ferrum. Coming into the game, the Panthers held an 8-0 series lead.

Coach Bryan Harvey's team will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 19, at home against Washington & Lee University. The ODAC game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at Swartz Gym.
