Mattox Drops 31 to Lead Ferrum Past WPU

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Zarkia Mattox had 31 points and 19 rebounds to lead Ferrum College to a 61-54 USA South women's basketball road win over William Peace University this afternoon at Hermann Athletic Center. The win was the seventh in as many games for the Panthers.

THE BASICS
William Peace jumped out to a 17-10 lead after one period, but the Panthers rallied in the second to close the gap to 30-27 at the break. Ferrum used a 19-13 run in the third to grab a three point lead (46-43) heading into the fourth period. The Panthers led 52-51 with 5:18 left in regulation, but closed the game with a 9-3 run, with Mattox scoring seven of her team's last nine points.
