FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College beat Methodist University 65-46 in USA South Athletic Conference women's basketball action this afternoon at Swartz Gymnasium.

Ferrum (15-7, 10-1 USA South)
Methodist (6-16, 4-7 USA South)

Ferrum led 19-8 at 2:44 of the first period on a Zarkia Mattox layup. The Panthers widened the lead to 12 points in the second period, but the Monarchs cut it to nine at the break. Methodist used a 10-4 run to open the third, trimming Ferrum's lead to 37-34 at 5:46. The Panthers held a seven-point lead after the third, but used an 11-2 run to open the fourth and the lead ballooned to 56-40 with 7:55 left to play.
