FERRUM, Va. -- Paced by Tonya Wright's 21 points, the Ferrum College women's basketball team fought off a scrappy Greensboro College to claim a 72-61 USA South victory at Swartz Gymnasium.

After the Panthers built their largest lead at 40-24 just two minutes into the second half, Greensboro went on a furious 24-10 run to cut Ferrum's lead to two.

Ferrum and Greensboro would trade punches over the next seven minutes, before the Panthers ended the game on an 8-0 game-clinching run.

Along with Wright, three other Panthers notched double figure scoring.  Kristen Keith poured in 14 points and Brittney Bullock collected a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.  Ashley Norton finished with 11 points and dished out 6 assists.

The Pride got a game-high 26 points from Nikki Wilborn, while Bianca Richburg added 19.

Ferrum (15-5, 9-4 USA South) scorched the nets shooting 51% for the game, including a blistering 63.6% clip in the second half.  Coach Harvey's club turned up the defensive intensity, holding the Pride (6-13, 4-10 USA South) to just over 30% shooting for the game.

The Panthers put their five-game winning streak on the line Wednesday, Feb. 10, as they travel to Shenandoah University for a USA South doubleheader.  The women's game tips off at 5:30 and will immediately be followed by the men.
