Panther Women Post Comeback Win Over Methodist

FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team fell behind Methodist University early and trailed by six at halftime, but used a big run in the second half en route to a 58-55 USA South win this afternoon at home.

Down 41-35, Ferrum forged ahead with a 19-0 run midway through the second half to take a 54-41 lead with 6:43 left to play.  Methodist scored the next seven points to get within six at 54-48 with 3:41 left to play.  Ferrum widened the lead to eight points on a Kristen Keith free throw with less than a minute left to play and hung on for the win.

Keith had 19 points on 8-14 shooting to lead all scorers.  Brittney Bullock had 12 points to go with 13 rebounds, while Ashley Norton had 11 points.  Tesla Akers added six points and six assists.

Methodist (6-6, 2-3 USA South) was led by Michaela Myers, who had 14 points.  Dezzire Gilliard had six points and 11 rebounds for the Monarchs.

Ferrum (7-3, 3-2 USA South) returns to action Monday, Jan. 11, at home against Mary Baldwin College.  The USA South game tips off at 7 p.m. in Swartz Gym.
