SALEM, Va. -- #7 seed Ferrum College was eliminated from the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Tournament with a 9-4 loss to top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University.

Ferrum scored a pair of runs in the first inning off RBI doubles by Tori Scott and Bailey Cunningham. Virginia Wesleyan scored a pair of runs in the second inning off Kaylah Duplain's two-run homer to left center.
Cunningham drove in another two runs in the third inning with an RBI double to left field that put Ferrum out in front 4-2.
The Marlins answered with seven unanswered runs to close out the game, four in the third inning, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Duplain closed the game 3-3 at the plate with a double, a homer and four RBI for the Marlins, who have been ranked #1 in the nations for all but two weeks this season.

Ferrum wrapped up the season with a 20-21 overall record in Gerald Culler's fourth season as head coach. The Panthers graduate seven players, while 22 players are eligible to return for the 2020 season.
