SALEM, Va. -- Ferrum College opens play tonight at 8:00 p.m. in the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, being held Friday through Monday, April 26-29, at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem.

THE BASICS
Coach Gerald Culler's team is the #7 seed and will face #2 Emory & Henry College tonight at Moyer Sports Complex Field 1.

The winner of that game will return to action Saturday afternoon with a 1:30 p.m. game against the winner of Friday's game between #3 University of Lynchburg and #6 Guilford College. The loser will play an elimintation against the loser of the Lynchburg/Guilford game Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.

Ferrum and Emory & Henry split their league doubleheader April 3 in Emory, Virginia. The Panthers took the opener 5-4, only to see the Wasps grab the nightcap 10-2 in five innings.

Two-time defending NCAA Div. III National Champion Virginia Wesleyan University is the ODAC Tournament top seed. Ferrum split with the Marlins in the regular season doubleheader. The Panthers split league doubleheaders with the top five seeds during the regular season.

SEASON AT A GLANCE
The Panthers completed the regular season play with 19-19 overal record, and went 9-11 in ODAC play. Sophomore Keri Hamlett leads the team with a .371 batting average, while freshman Allison McGehee is the Panthers' home run (7) and RBI (31) leader. Junior Ashton Lambeth brings a 14-6 pitching record and 2.88 ERA with 34 strikeouts into the tournament.
