FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's softball meeting with Virginia Wesleyan University, the two-time defending NCAA Division III national champion, will have to wait a week.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader was scheduled to be played Saturday, April 13, in Virginia Beach, but a forecast of steady rain in Virginia's Tidewater area Saturday has forced the postponement.
The two teams will now play Saturday, April 20, at Virginia Wesleyan, with a 1:30 p.m. scheduled start time. The Marlins play home games at a new facility, the Tom & Betty Broyles Field at TowneBank Park.
Ferrum is currently 17-17 overall and 7-9 in the ODAC, while Virginia Wesleyan is 29-2 overall and 13-1 in league play. The Marlins have spent all but two weeks during the 2019 season as the top-ranked softball program in the NCAA Division III national poll.
