GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College's softball team earned a split at Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent Guilford College this afternoon at Haworth Field. The Panthers won the opener 4-2 in eight innings, then dropped the nightcap 7-4.

THE BASICS
Allison McGeHee's two-run homer in the eighth inning was the difference in the opener. McGehee took a 2-2 pitch and sent it sailing over the over the center field fence. Jasmine Agee pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits and two earned runs over eight innings.

Ferrum trailed 3-0 after the an inning in the nightcap, but got one back in the second on Lois Carpenter's solo home run to left field. The Quakers added a run in the third to make in a 4-1 game, then Ferrum struck for two in the fifth off RBI singles by Cheyenne Strickland and Tori Scott, and added a run in the sixth when Carpenter scored off a wild pitch. The Quakers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break the 4-4 deadlock.
