Eagles Take Two from Ferrum in ODAC Softball

FERRUM, Va. -- Bridgewater College took a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference softball games from Ferrum College this afternoon at American National Bank Field, winning 5-1 in the opener and 9-0 in five innings in the nightcap.

Bridgewater (19-1, 7-7 ODAC)
Ferrum (16-14, 7-7 ODAC)

Bridgewater scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning of the opener, three on Katrina Martin's home run to left field. Allison McGehee broke up the shutout with a solo homer to left center in the sixth inning.

The Eagles got rolling early in game two, scoring four runs in the second inning then added one in the third. Bridgewater then scored four in the fifth inning, two on Martin's second home run of the day and the other two on solo homers by Stephanie Carroll and Brooke Loudon.

Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Sunday, April 7, at home against Salem College. The non-conference doubleheader gets underway at 1:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a Senior Day ceremony for Ferrum's graduating players.
