Ferrum Splits ODAC Softball Doubleheader at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. -- Ferrum College's softball team earned a 10-2 win in the opener, then dropped the nightcap 5-2 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader with Shenandoah University this afternoon at Henkel-Harris Field.

Shenandoah (10-9, 2-2 ODAC)

Ferrum drew first blood, scoring three runs in the first inning of game one, two off Allison McGehee's RBI double to left center.

Lois Carpenter had a rare inside-the-park homer to open the fourth inning, and Ashton Lambeth had a two-run homer later in that frame.

In game two, Shenandoah starter Megan Scalley allowed nine hits in a complete seven-inning effort, but held the Panthers off to get the win. Morgan Henley had a three-run homer in the sixth inning to help the Hornets salvage the league split.

Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Tuesday, March 26, at home against Roanoke College. The ODAC doubleheader is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at American National Bank Field.
