STAUNTON, Va. – Bailey Oakes had two homers, while Bayley Cunningham and Allison McGehee had one each as Ferrum College swept Mary Baldwin University in non-conference play softball action this afternoon on the road. The Panthers opened the day with an 11-6 win, then took the nightcap 12-4 in five innings.
Mary Baldwin (3-11)
Mary Baldwin opened a 2-0 lead after an inning in game one. Ferrum scored three runs in the fourth inning, only to be answered with three runs from the Fighting Squirrels in the bottom of the frame for a 5-3 MBU lead.
The Panthers exploded for five runs in the fifth inning, including Cunningham's three-run homer, and Ferrum led 8-5. Mary Baldwin added a run in the bottom of the fifth to trim the lead to 8-6, but Ferrum tacked on three runs in the sixth for the final count. Ashton Lambeth (6-1) earned the win after pitching seven innings, facing all but three batters and allowing seven hits.
Ferrum took control of the nightcap early, scoring nine runs in the first inning, four on McGehee's grand slam. Starter Jasmine Agee (4-5) got the win, pitching four innings and allowing just four hits.

Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Wednesday, March 20, at home against University of Lynchburg. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at American National Bank Field.
