FERRUM, Va. --Ferrum College picked up a pair of non-conference softball win this afternoon at home over SUNY Oswego, winning the opener 5-4 and taking the nightcap 7-1 at American National Bank Field.
The Panthers erased a 3-0 deficit in the opener with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, then added a run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth to post the comeback win.
Lois Carpenter's RBI double to left field allowed Tori Scott to score the game-winning run. Keri Hamlett, Arielle Eure and Scott had two base hits each, while Jasmine Agee (3-5) tossed a five-hitter with two strikeouts to get the win.
Ferrum scored two runs in the first inning of the nightcap, both off Carpenter's RBI single to left field, and added five in the second before hanging on for the win.
Starter Ashton Lambeth (5-1) pitched six innings to get the win, striking out five batters. Emily Knowlden had three base hits in two games for the Lakers.

Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Sunday, March 17, at Mary Baldwin University. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start in Staunton, Virginia.
