Softball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Ferrum College split a non-conference softball doubleheader with Methodist University this afternoon on the road, winning the opener 6-5 in eight innings and dropping the nightcap 2-1 at Price Field.

Ferrum (2-2)
Methodist (1-7)

Cheyenne Strickland went 4-7 in two games and scored a run. Ashton Lambeth pitched the entire 8-inning opener, striking out six Monarch batters, and improving to 2-0 this season. Kelsey Smith had a pair of base hits for the Monarchs (1-7).

Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Saturday, March 2, during Ferrum's Spring Break '19 trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Panthers play Michigan-Dearborn at 11:30 a.m., then take on Penn State-Schuylkill at 3:30 p.m. Culler's team will then play Wesley and King's (PA) Sunday, March 3, at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
