FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Ferrum College split a USA South Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with Methodist University this afternoon on the road, falling 4-3 in the opener before taking the nightcap 5-0 at Price Field.

The Monarchs scored three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead, then held on to win the opener. Starter Miranda McKoy (3-0) pitched five innings to get the win, while Ashton Lambeth (2-3) was saddled with the loss after pitching all six innings. In the nightcap, the Panthers scored three runs in the third inning and two in the fourth to salvage the doubleheader split. Jasmine Agee (4-3) tossed a complete game one-hitter with four strikeouts for Ferrum. Starter Jordan Propst (2-3) got the loss after pitching four innings for the Monarchs. Bailey Oakes came up with three base hits, a double and an RBI in two games for the Panthers.
Coach Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Tuesday, March 20, at home against Greensboro College. The USA South doubleheader has been postponed twice this season due to inclement weather or poor field conditions. Game one is set to begin Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at American National Bank Field.
