FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College split a USA South Athletic Conference doubleheader with Averett University this afternoon at home, falling 5-0 in the opener before taking the nightcap 2-0 at American National Bank Field.

Ferrum (12-4, 4-1 USA South)

Courtney Rudd tossed a four-hitter with nine strikeouts to get the victory in the nightcap for the Panthers, running her record to 7-0 on the mound in the process.

Coach Gerald Culler's team was scheduled to host Greensboro College Sunday, March 11, but the league doubleheader has been postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather. The Panthers will play next on Saturday, March 17, at North Carolina Wesleyan College. The USA South doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
