ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- North Carolina Wesleyan College handed Ferrum College a pair of USA South Athletic Conference softball losses this afternoon, by scores of 4-2 and 5-4 at Edge Field.

The Bishops scored a pair of runs in the second inning of the opener and one in the third inning, then added an insurance run in the sixth for the win. Beth Braswell (6-3) threw a complete game nine-hitter with five strikeouts. Jasmine Agee (3-3) got the loss, pitching three innings and allowing five hits, three earned runs and a pair of walks. N.C. Wesleyan scored two runs in the first inning of the nightcap, two in the second and one in the fourth to complete the sweep. Ferrum scored three runs in the sixth inning to cut the score to 5-4, but the inning ended with a strikeout and ground out. Logan Lowery (5-4) earned the win after pitching five innings, and Kaitlyn Checkan poked a solo home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning. Courtney Rudd (7-1) absorbed the loss, pitching three innings and allowing six hits, three earned runs and a walk. Cheyenne Strickland went 3-7 at the plate in two games with two doubles, a run, an RBI and a walk for the Panthers.
