Ferrum's Thompson Earns Player of the Week
 
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's Karly Thompson has been named Softball Player of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference for her part in six Panther games last week.

A sophomore outfielder from Lorton, Virginia, Thompson batted .528 last week, going 10-19 at the plate with five RBI.  She had five doubles, five runs, two walks and a stolen base

In a doubleheader split with USA South opponent Shenandoah University, Thompson was a combined 3-6 with a double, a run and a walk.  In a doubleheader split with USA South opponent Methodist University, Thompson was a combined 4-5 with two doubles, three runs, two RBI, a walk and a stolen base.

And in a non-conference doubleheader split with Guilford College, Thompson was a combined 4-8 with two doubles, three RBI and a run.

Also nominated for Softball Player of the Week were Alex Warren of Meredith College, Jordan Adams of Methodist, Kanisha Fogg of Greensboro College, Morgan Coble of Shenandoah, Leah Gibson of Averett University, and Jennifer Falin of Christopher Newport University.

Ferrum (29-11, 12-6 USA South) is the #3 seed for this week's USA South Tournament.  The Panthers face #6 Shenandoah in the opening round Friday at 11 a.m. in Burlington, North Carolina.
