FERRUM, Va. -- Prior to this afternoon's USA South home doubleheader against Averett University, the Ferrum College softball team will honor senior Lindsay Etherton, who will leave the College soon to honor her military commitment with the United States Army.  The ceremony will begin at 4:45 p.m., and will be folowed immediately by the first Ferrum-Averett game.

Etherton played softball three years at Ferrum from 2004-06, before leaving school to join the U.S. Army Reserves.  She served a tour of Afghanistan from September 2009 to September 2010.

Etherton returned to school last year to complete work on her degree in Psychology and has been playing in her last season of collegiate eligibility with the softball team this spring.  She recently learned she would  be mobilized for re-deployment to Afghanistan later this month.

The softball team would like to invite all faculty, staff and students to join us for a special Senior Day ceremony Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. at Franklin Community Bank Field.  We would greatly appreciate your presence at the game as a show of support for Lindsay, a student-athlete and active member of the U.S. military.
