FERRUM, Va. -- Acting Director of Athletics Gary Holden has announced the hiring of Felix Son Vu and Grant Boaz as assistant men's soccer coaches at Ferrum College. Vu joins the Panthers as a full-time coach, while Boaz will serve as a volunteer assistant. Both will work with third-year Head Coach Enda Crehan.
Vu spent the past two seasons at Drury University as a Graduate Assistant for both the men's and women's soccer programs. He also spent the summer of 2019 as the NPSL Demize Goalkeeper Coach. Prior to Drury, Vu played college soccer for Alderson Broaddus University from 2013-17, where he helped the team win the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament in 2016.
Vu graduated with a Master's degree in Integrated Learning from Drury in May 2019. He earned his a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health from Alderson Broaddus in 2017. He also received a Certificate in Fitness from The Australian College of Sports and Fitness in 2018. Vu's playing experience includes various semi-professional teams in Australia and he represented Australia as a youth player. He was also a part of the NPSL Demize and PASL Demize team for part of the 2018 season.
Boaz will focus on operations and opposition analysis for the Panthers. He recently completed his second season as a travel soccer coach at the PYSL in Martinsville. He also served as an assistant coach for the Martinsville High School team for several seasons, and most recently took over as the soccer coach for boys and girls at Carlisle School.
Boaz recently served as a staff coach for camps with Radford University, Post to Post and the Chicago Fire in the community programs. Boaz graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management with an emphasis in administration from North Carolina State University. He currently has his E and F licenses through the U.S. Soccer Federation. Boaz played college soccer for Crehan at Patrick Henry Community College in the NJCAA.
