DANVILLE, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road game this afternoon to Averett University, falling 2-1 at Campbell Stadium.

Averett ( 1-1)
Ferrum (3-1)

Erik Blick headed a ball past Ferrum goalkeeper Derek Thomas less than eight minutes into the game off a free kick by Huso Dukic. Ferrum's Moore Dolue scored a goal at 28:27 off a Sam May pass and the two teams were tied at the break. Dukic broke the stalemete with an unassisted goal at 73:51 and Averett's defense did the rest to preserve the win.

Averett: Dukic gw-goal, asst; GK Austin Bramhall (1-1) 90 min, 9 saves
Ferrum: Dolue goal; Thomas (2-1) 90 min, 3 saves

"We played so well in patches today, but couldn't finish our chances. We had multiple one-on-ones with their keeper and really opened them up with our pace and movement. To concede the first goal on an own goal was also a hammer blow. We battled well and deserved a result. We look forward to the next game." -- Head Coach Enda Crehan

Coach Enda Crehan's team will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 9, at home against William Peace University. The game will be part of a non-conference doubleheader that will see the Ferrum and WPU women square off at noon, then the Panther and Pacer men take the field at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be played at W.B. Adams Stadium.
