Golfers Compete at Green Turtle Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's golf team opened the 2018-19 season at the Green Turtle Invitational, held Sept. 10 by Shenandoah University at Shenandoah Valley Country Club. The tournament was originally scheduled to be a two-day event, but was shortened due to rain.

Ferrum posted a last-place finish in a field of 16 teasm. Junior Lance Keiser and sophomore Hunter Shelton led the Panthers with 72, tying eight other golfers for 18th place in a field of 83 golfers on the Par 70, 6063-yard course.

Ferrum resumes fall semester play Sunday and Monday, Sept. 16-17, at the Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament. The event is hosted by Bridgewater College at Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Ferrum captured team titles at the Kinder Memorial in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and Keiser is the defending medalist from a year ago.
