FERRUM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced its 2019 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team and Ferrum College's Marcus Huff has been named to the third team. This is Huff's first All-Conference honor, and Ferrum's first since the 2016-17 season.
The ODAC men's basketball major awards were claimed by individuals at three different schools. Randolph-Macon College's Buzz Anthony earned the Kurt Axe Memorial Player of the Year award, while teammate Jon Nowell earned ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete honors. Yellow Jackets' Coach Josh Merkel earned the Bob Johnson Coach of the Year award.
Washington and Lee University's Curtis Mitchell was named Defensive Player of the Year, a new award in the league this season. Shenandoah University's Jaylen Williams rounded out the top brass with Rookie of the Year honors.
Huff averaged 17.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 25 games for the Panthers this season. He shot 41% from the floor and 71% from the free throw line. Huff scored in double figures 22 times and dropped 20 or more points eight times. He posted a career-high 33 points in a Feb. 9 ODAC loss at Washington and Lee.
Ferrum is led by second-year Head Coach Tyler Sanborn. The Panthers closed out the season at 5-20 overall, 4-12 in league play. Huff and one other player graduate this season, while 12 others are eligible to return for the 2019-20 season.
