FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College trimmed a 27-point deficit to five points late in the game, but dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball game 76-64 to Lynchburg College tonight at Swartz Gym.

Lynchburg jumped out 25-8 lead in the first seven minutes of play and never trailed. The Hornets extended the lead to 27 points with 5:57 left in the first half, but Ferrum used a 14-7 run to get to within 20 points at the break.
The Panthers slowly chipped away at the lead, getting to within five points at 69-64 on Rashad Reed's three-pointer with 1:54 left in regulation. The Hornets closed the game with five players in double figures. Reed finished with 28 points, tying his career-high from last season in a 100-96 win over Averett University December 13 at home.
