FERRUM, Va. -- Shenandoah University earned an 81-67 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball win this afternoon over Ferrum College, beating the Panthers 81-67 at Swartz Gym.

Ferrum led 6-4 early on, but Shenandoah used a 21-2 run to grab a 25-8 lead and eventually led 44-25 at the break. The Panthers struggled from behind the arc in the first half, going 0-11 from three-point range.
The Panthers opened the second half with a 7-0 spurt to get within a dozen points, incuding a three-pointer by Rashad Reed and a jumper and two free throws by Marcus Huff. Ferrum got as close at 13 points twice late in the game, the last time when Reed was fouled as he drove to the basket, then converted a pair of layups to make the score 78-65 with 1:33 left to play.
Shenandoah closed the game shooting almost 41% fom the floor, to Ferrum's 32%. The Hornets out-rebounded Ferrum 50-43.
Coach Tyler Sanborn's team will be back in action Wednesday, Jan. 16, at home against Guilford College. The ODAC game tips off at 7:00 p.m. at Swartz Gym.
