Ferrum's Magdaleno, Roberts Earn ODAC All-Conference Field Hockey Honors

FERRUM, Va. -- The Old Doninion Athletic Conference has announced its 2018 Field Hockey All-Conference Team, and Ferrum College's Sierra Magdaleno and Tatianna Roberts have been so honored.

A senior from Chesapeake, Virginia, Magdaleno has been named to the ODAC All-Conference second team as a midfielder. She posted nine points for the Panthers this season on three goals and three assists, took 37 shots, including 18 on net, and made one defensive save. Magdaleno was a first team selection in the Southern Athletic Association in 2016, a league Ferrum competed in for field hockey only, and was a second team pick a year ago.

Roberts, a junior from Hampton, has been named to the All-Conference third team as a defensder. She closed the season with two points on one goal, took 18 shots, 12 of which were on goal, and made three defensive saves. This is Roberts' first All-Conference honor.

ODAC Player of the Year honors went to University of Lynchburg's Nikki Simpao, while her coach Enza Steele earned Coach of the Year. Shenandoah University's Kelsey Jones was named Rookie of the Year, and her teammate Morgan Payne was named ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete.

Ferrum closed out the season at 3-13 overall and 0-8 in league play under fifth-year Head Coach Carrie Hanshue Austin. The Panthers lose two players to graduation, while 13 are eligible to return for the 2019 season.
