GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A pair of blocked extra points proved to be the difference as Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference football game to Guilford College 28-27 tonight at Armfield Athletic Center.

Guilford jumped out to an early 14-0 lead less than nine minutes into the game before Ferrum could get on the scoreboard with Quentin Wallace's 33-yard touchdown reception from Zack Clifford. The Quakers went up 21-7 when Jordan Smith hauled in a 62-yard touchdown pass from Alex Manley to open the second quarter.
Chris Baker helped trim the lead with his 26-yard TD catch from Clifford with 8:48 left in the first half, but the PAT was blocked and the score was 21-13 at the break. Trailing 28-21 late in the game, the Panthers drove 75 yards in eight plays to cut the lead to one point, but the PAT was blocked with 4:13 left in regulation and the Quakers were able to run out the clock from there. Guilford closed the game with 466 yards in total offense, while Ferrum had 438 yards.

Coach Rob Grande's team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 20, at home against Washington & Lee University. The ODAC game will be played during Ferrum's Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at W.B. Adams Stadium.
