SALEM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball game to Roanoke College Wednesday, April 3, falling 9-7 under the lights at Salem Memorial Ballpark.
Roanoke (12-12, 9-2 ODAC)
Ferrum (18-9, 9-4 ODAC)
The Maroons struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Ferrum error. Ferrum's Connor Dopp scored on Nathaniel Anthony's sac fly in the top of the second, but Roanoke pushed a run across in the bottom half of the inning for a 3-1 lead.
Ferrum scored five runs in the third inning, two off Josh Greenway's RBI single to center field, and one each on singles by Drew Calohan, Brandon Roberts and Anthony, to go out in front 6-3. Roanoke answered with two runs in the fifth to trim the lead to 6-5.
Tim Ortega scored on Greenway's RBI single to center in the top of the seventh inning to make it a 7-5 game, but the Maroons scored four in the bottom of the frame, the final two on wild pitches.

Coach Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Saturday, April 6, against Marymount University. The non-conference doubleheader is set for a noon start at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
