Ferrum Hangs on for Baseball Win Over Knights

FERRUM, Va. – Ferrum College earned a hard-fought 9-8 non-conference baseball win at home over Southern Virginia University, winning 9-8 tonight at Panther Field.

Ferrum led 8-2 after four innings, but the Knights scored a run in the seventh, two in the eighth and three in the ninth to tie the game at 8-8.

Drew Calohan doubled to right field to lead off the ninth, then scored the game-winning run when Jake Martin reached on a throwing error.

Parker Mason had three base hits tonight, while Nathaniel Anthony, Kyle Anstice, Josh Greenway and Calohan had two each.

Coach Ryan Brittle's team will play next on Saturday, March 30, at home against Virginia Wesleyan University Saturday. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader gets underway at 2:00 p.m. at Panther Field.
