LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The opener went to 11 innings and the nightcap was a tight affair, but Ferrum College's baseball team swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader with University of Lynchburg Saturday, March, 23, on the road. The Panthers took the opener 11-9 in 11 innings then eked out a 4-2 win in game two, in a league twinbill played at James C. Fox Field.

Lynchburg led 4-1 after two innings in game one, but Ferrum battled back to tie the game with three runs in the third. Lynchburg plated three in the bottom of the third to retake the lead, 7-4. The Panthers responded with five runs in the fifth, including a pair off Parker Mason's RBI single to center field to give Ferrum a 9-7 lead. The Hornets scored a run each in the eighth and ninth inning to force extra innings.
Kyle Anstice and Nathaniel Anthony both scored on a throwing error in the top of the 11th inning for the final count. Will Davis pitched the final three innings to earn the win, allowing two hits and no earned runs with three strikeouts.
Game two was tied 2-2 in the eighth inning when Tim Ortega doubled to left field, then moved to third on Anstice's single to left. Greenway drove both in with an RBI triple to left field, and the Panthers played defense to preserve the win. Starter Joey Pride scattered six hits over eight innings to get the win, allowing two earned runs and a walk, while striking out a pair of Hornet batters.
