Panthers Take Two in Baseball from Oneonta

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College earned a pair on non-conference baseball wins over SUNY-Oneonta this afternoon at Panther Field, winning the opener 8-2 before posting a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap.

Jake Martin's single in the first inning of game one drove in Nathaniel Anthony and the Panthers held a 1-0 lead. Oneonta struck for two runs in the fourth inning to grab the lead. Ferrum responded with three runs in the sixth inning, one each off Martin's RBI double and RBI singles by Tim Ortega and Kyle Anstice.

Anthony homered in the seventh inning and Anstice had an RBI single to make the score 6-2, then Corey Stoneman's ground out and Christian Campbell's sacrifice fly in the eighth plated two more runs for the final count. Starter Colby Grissom and reliever Will Davis combined for 10 strikeouts. 

In game two, Joey Pride hurled a complete seven-inning two-hitter with four strikeouts. Anstice had an RBI single in the first inning to drive in Martin. The Panthers scored a run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, including Martin's solo homer to left field in the fifth.
