FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College Director of Athletics Abe Naff has announced that Chris Wendling has been promoted from Assistant Athletic Trainer to Head Athletic Trainer.

Wendling succeeds Dave Jager, who stepped down in order to accept the same position at NCAA Division I Radford University. Jager served as Ferrum's Athletic Trainer for three years. Wendling begins his new duties officially July 1.

Wendling came to Ferrum in the summer of 2007 from the University of North Florida, where he was a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He worked with baseball, men's and women's cross country and track at North Florida. Wendling also performed a student internship with the National Football League's Buffalo Bills in the summer of 2004.

Wendling earned his Master of Public Health from North Florida in July of 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education from Grand Valley State University in April of 2005. As a student at Grand Valley State, Wendling was a student athletic trainer.

Wendling is a certified athletic trainer through National Athletic Trainer's Association. He is also certified as a First Aid and Professional Rescuer by the National Safety Council. Wendling is a 2000 graduate of Warren Cousino High School and the son of Thomas and Linda Wendling of Sterling Heights, Michigan.
