FERRUM, Va. -- Senior Ali Davenport has been named to the second team of the 2008 Virginia Small College Women's Basketball All-State Team, as voted upon by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

Davenport also made the All-State second team in 2007. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native was Ferrum's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 14.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season. She was named first team All-Conference in the USA South Athletic Conference, her second consecutive league post-season honor.
After opening the season at 0-5, Ferrum reeled off 17 of its last 22 games to finish 17-10. The Panthers are led by Head Coach Bryan Harvey, who is 52-30 in his his first three seasons at the helm of the Panther women's basketball program. Harvey's teams are 34-12 in the USA South over three years, including the 2007 USA South regular season title. The Panthers made trips to the USA South Tournament title game in 2006 and 2007.
