DANVILLE, Va. -- #7 North Carolina Wesleyan College upset #2 Ferrum College 80-78 in the quarterfinal round of the 2008 USA South Men's Basketball Tournament Feb. 27 at Averett University.

Ferrum took a 76-75 lead with 1:38 left to play on layup by sophomore Jerrell Wade. Lenny Hall gave the Bishops the lead back when he made a steal, drove the length of the floor for a layup. Hall was fouled on the play and converted the three-point play for a 78-76 lead with :50 left.
Sophomore Keith Crump, Ferrum's scoring leader this season (15.2 ppg), tied the ball game up with a layup at the :37 mark, but Hall's jumper with :02 left game the Bishops the win.
Ferrum (14-12) was led by senior Jon Godsey's game-high 24 points, including four three-pointers. Godsey also added 10 rebounds. Crump had 21 points, freshman Derek Mitchell had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Wade had 10 points.
N.C. Wesleyan (12-14) was led by Hall's 23 points. Careem Corbett and Trey Drake had 13 points each in the win, while Adam Coleman had 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Bishops move on to the semifinal round Friday in Newport News, where they will face #6 Greensboro College at 8 p.m. Greensboro advanced with a 63-59 road win over #3 Shenandoah. The other semifinal will pit #1 Methodist University against #5 Averett at 4 p.m.
