INDIANAPOLIS, In. -- Ferrum College President Dr. Jennifer L. Braaten has agreed to serve on an NCAA Division III PresidentsAd Hoc Committee.

In a letter from NCAA Vice President for Division III Dan Dutcher on February 19, Braaten was invited to serve on a committee to discuss how the possible changes to the Division III governance structure might affect member institutions for whom the enrollment and retention of student-athletes is of concern.

The committee will be made up of approximately 10-12 Presidents from NCAA Division III institutions.  The committee will conduct two or three conference calls during April-June, with subsequent calls as needed.

Braaten has been very active with Division III athletics.  She recently completed a three-year term on the NCAA Division III Management Council, and has served on the Division III Infractions Appeals Committee and the Future of Division III Phase II Oversight Group.  Braaten also chairs the USA South Athletic Conference Presidents' Council.

Braaten has been Ferrum's President since 2002.  She previously served as President at Midland Lutheran College in Nebraska, Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lynn University in Florida, Academic Dean at Lynn, and Professor of Sociology and U.S. History at both the College of Boca Raton and Florida Atlantic University.
